“I’m Too Tired” and 14 Other Bulls**t Excuses I Use When I’m Depressed

Procrastination should be the first item on my resume.

It’s a skill I’ve been honing for years, and thanks to the intrusive thoughts brought on by my Depression, I have become quite deft at it. The excuses come ready-made to my mind. All I have to do is believe them, and I’m stopped in my tracks.

I know they’re bullshit, but they make sense to me at the time. Here are my go-to 15 depression

  1. “I’m too tired”
  2. “No one’s reading anyway”
  3. “I have nothing interesting to say”
  4. “I’ll do it tomorrow”
  5. “I’m just embarrassing myself”
  6. “I should clean the house first”
  7. “It’s too overwhelming”
  8. “I never finish anything anyway”
  9. “It’s already too late, It’d be awkward to do it now”
  10. “I’d just mess it up.”
  11. “I’m no good at it.”
  12. “I can’t focus”
  13. “I don’t know where to start”
  14. “What I’m doing isn’t important”
